Finland, Germany win late August international tournaments

In a pair of international women's hockey tournaments played last week in Europe, the national teams from Finland and Germany came out on top of the standings in their respective competitions, the first warm-ups leading to the 2026 Olympic Winter Games.

Women's Euro Hockey Tour (Kloten, Switzerland) – The Finns earned a clean sweep, posting 5-2 victories over both Czechia & Sweden and a 5-0 shutout of the host Swiss.  The Czechs took the second spot, getting a 4-3 shootout victory over Switzerland and a 2-1 decision over the Swedes.  The Swiss shut out Sweden 4-0 on the tournament's opening day to finish 3rd.

Four Nations Tournament (Albertville, France) – The Germans needed a shootout for a 2-1 win over Japan last Thursday, but followed that up with wins over Hungary (5-1) and France (6-3) to earn the top spot.  After dropping the shootout to Germany, Japan rebounded with a 5-2 victory over France and their own shootout win, 3-2, over Hungary to finish 2nd.  The Francs finished third thanks to a 4-2 victory over the Hungarians on the tournament's opening day.

Field Trip Day game (Nov. 14) moved to 3M Arena at Mariucci

As we've noted previously, the Gopher Women's Hockey program's second Field Trip Day game, presented by Kwik Trip, is set for Friday, November 14 against Bemidji State with a 12 noon start.  Per an announcement from the U. of M. earlier this week, that game has now been relocated to 3M Arena at Mariucci.

Elementary and middle schools are invited to attend with free admission, and tickets can now be reserved for those groups at z.umn.edu/WHOFieldTripDay2025.  For all other fans, single-game tickets are now available for purchase from the Golden Gopher Ticket Office online or by phone at 1-800-U-GOPHER.

Additionally, per the announcement of the location change, "All season ticket holders will be relocated to one section inside of 3M Arena at Mariucci.  More information on where to go on gameday will be communicated at a later date."  We will share those details when they become available.
