2025-'26 WCHA Forward of the Year: Minnesota's Abbey Murphy!!
Announcing their major individual award winners for the 2025-2026 season at last night's banquet ahead of the Kwik Trip Final Faceoff, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association named Minnesota graduate student & co-captain Abbey Murphy as the league's Forward of the Year!!
As shared in the U. of M. press release, Murphy leads the nation in goals per game (1.31) and points per game (2.21), while ranking fifth in assists per game (0.90). She also paces the conference in power-play goals (7) and hat tricks (5). Previously announced as an All-WCHA First Team selection, Murphy has set a single-season career high with 38 goals in just 29 games. In the process, she became the all-time leading goal scorer in Minnesota Women's Hockey program history, lighting the lamp 141 times (and counting) in her Gopher career.
