PPC Board of Directors Meeting – Tuesday, June 2 at 7 p.m.
We provide one more reminder that the next Power Play Club Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, June 2 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held online via Zoom and is open to all club members who were enrolled for the 2025-2026 season; please contact PPC president Bill Johnson (billjohnson013@gmail.com) or vice president Dave Malerich (dmalerich@yahoo.com) if you wish to attend.
Gopher Women's Hockey 2026-2027 schedule released!!
The Gopher Women's Hockey team announced its 2026-2027 season schedule on Wednesday, beginning the countdown to puck drop on Friday, October 2 on the road against the Bemidji State University Beavers. The full schedule can be found here.
The opening weekend marks the first two of five meetings against the Beavers. The two squads plus the University of Maine Black Bears will gather at Ridder Arena on October 9 through 11 for the Minnesota East-West Showcase, playing in a three-game scramble format. The Gophers and BSU will later square off in another "traditional" WCHA weekend series on January 8 & 9 at Ridder, marking Minnesota's return to action after the holiday break.
The schedule features four other non-conference contests. The Gophers will host the Lindenwood University Lions for a Thursday-Friday series on October 22 & 23. In November, Minnesota plays on Thanksgiving weekend for the first time in three years, making their return to the D1 in DC Showcase in Alexandria, Virginia where they'll face Princeton (Nov. 27) and Penn State (Nov. 28).
We also note that the four combined series against St. Cloud State and Minnesota State are home-and-home weekends – including the final two of the regular season.
All game times are to be announced at a later date, and the schedule is subject to change. We'll pass along updates as they are published.
WCHA composite league schedule released
Additionally, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association released its composite schedule of all 112 league games (though subject to change and all times TBA). Notably, the two teams who have met in the last four NCAA Championship games – Ohio State and Wisconsin – will square off for the first time in the 2026-2027 season on October 9 in Columbus.
Power Play Club Chalk Talk schedule for 2026-2027
With the team's schedule release, the Power Play Club Board of Directors has set the dates of three Chalk Talks in the 2026-2027 season (subject to change):
Saturday, October 17 – prior to Minnesota vs. Ohio State
Saturday, January 30 – prior to Minnesota vs. St. Thomas
Saturday, February 20 – prior to Minnesota vs. St. Cloud State
Chalk Talks will be held in the Ridder Arena Weight Room, upstairs across the hall from the suites and press area, starting 90 minutes before game time.
Looking at the club's other traditional annual events...
The date of the PPC reception with the team, featuring new player (and this year, coach) introductions, is to be determined.
Our Locker Sponsor Gathering is scheduled for January 16 before the game against Minnesota Duluth.
The date of our annual Brunch with the Coaches is also to be determined as we verify the availability of the visiting coach; note that this is an extra-fee event.
Updates for all three of those events will be shared as the details are finalized.
