PPC Board of Directors Meeting – Tuesday, July 7 at 7 p.m.

Here's an additional reminder that the next Power Play Club Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, July 7 at 7 p.m.  Topics of the meeting will include the club's fundraising goals for 2026-2027 and its online presence.  The meeting will be held online via Zoom and is open to all club members who were enrolled for the 2025-2026 season; please contact PPC president Bill Johnson (billjohnson013@gmail.com) or vice president Dave Malerich (dmalerich@yahoo.com) if you wish to attend.

Gophers Kendra Distad, Allie Franco, Gracie Graham & Sydney Morrow honored as AHCA “All-American Scholars”

Minnesota Women's Hockey's Kendra Distad, Allie Franco, Gracie Graham & Sydney Morrow were among 725 Division I hockey players named 2026 “Krampade All-American Scholars” by the American Hockey Coaches Association earlier this week!!

Per the press release from the AHCA: To qualify, a student-athlete must have attained a 3.75 GPA for each semester and had to appear in 40% of the team’s games. Exceptions were granted to injured players and back-up goalies.

Congratulations and great work, ladies!!

Gophers Abbey Murphy, Chloe Primerano make history as invitees to Development Camp for NHL's Edmonton Oilers

We send a shout-out to Gophers Abbey Murphy and Chloe Primerano as they were two of three women invited to the Edmonton Oilers' annual Development Camp, held earlier this week.  Minnesota Duluth's Caitlin Kraemer was the third member of the trio who joined 24 Oilers prospects at the camp.

The Oilers released interview videos from Murphy and Primerano on X.

GWH alumna Jody Horak named 'M' Club Hall of Fame inductee

Gopher Women's Hockey alumna Jody Horak is one of ten former University of Minnesota student-athletes named to the school's “M” Club Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

Horak was the the Gophers' primary goaltender in their 2004 and 2005 NCAA Championship seasons.  She remains third all-time in career wins in Minnesota program history, posting an 83-14-6 record, and top-five in shutouts (20, 4th), saves (2213, 4th), goals-against average (1.61, 5th) and save percentage (.931, t-4th).  Horak was a multi-time All-WCHA First Team selection & WCHA goaltending champion, and was named an All-American in her senior year of 2004-2005.

The “M” Club Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for Friday, October 2, at Huntington Bank Stadium.  The 10 inductees will be recognized throughout the weekend at various events, including the October 3 Gopher football home game against Michigan.

 

Krissy Wendell Pohl inducted into National H.S. Hall of Fame

We send a shout-out to Gopher Women's Hockey alumna Krissy Wendell Pohl following her induction into the National High School Hall of Fame.  Wendell Pohl is the 18th Minnesotan to be inducted, a recognition of individuals having contributed excellence to interscholastic programs.

A multi-sport athlete at Park Center High School in Brooklyn Park, she played boys' hockey through her youth before switching to girls' hockey for her junior and senior seasons.  Over those two years, she tallied 219 goals, including a still-standing national record of 110 in 1999-2000.
