What is the Power Play Club?

The Power Play Club is the official booster club of Gopher Women’s Hockey (GWH). As a member you have the opportunity to experience women’s hockey on a more personal level as you develop friendships with other fans. Membership in the Power Play Club provides financial support and encouragement for the University of Minnesota women’s hockey team players and coaching staff in their quest for academic and athletic excellence.

What does the Power Play Club Do?

• Provides financial support for GWH “wish list” needs not funded by the athletic department

• Supports funding for a scholarship for a GWH athlete that increases on an ongoing basis and with matching monies supports a full scholarship for a GWH player

• Seeks to increase attendance at GWH games in collaboration with Gopher Sports Marketing staff and other partners

• Serves as a source of news and updates about GWH though its website, Facebook page (www.facebook.com/PowerPlayClubMN), Twitter account (@powerplayclub), and Penalty Box Post email newsletter

• Sponsors the annual GWH Senior Celebration

• Organizes member functions, including player receptions and coach Chalk Talks

What are the benefits of a Power Play Club membership?

• First and foremost - your club membership donation supports and promotes Gopher Women’s Hockey and helps fund a variety of goals and projects that would not otherwise be possible

• Exclusive access to pre-game Chalk Talks, in which coaches discuss strategy, show video highlights of the previous day’s contest, and alert fans about what to watch for in the upcoming game

• Invitation to the Freshman Reception, including a light meal, interviews with players, coaches’ comments and more

• Penalty Box Post- Weekly email newsletter with Power Play Club and GWH news, including player interviews

• Digital team photo and link to season highlights video

• Opportunity to participate in an annual event to provide feedback to the Power Play Club Board of Directors to help develop and promote projects to support GWH

• Connect with other fans of GWH and participate in club social events such as meals before away games, informal gatherings before home games.
